Enjoyment of sport promotes higher level achievements

At Sporteka we teach children the fundamentals of sport in a fun skill-based environment. This positive early experience of sport not only promotes a healthy lifestyle but sets tthe scene for future higher level achievements. It is important to keep this in mind when enrolling your child into a sports program. The potential is endless but no pressure. Some parents see potential in their toddlers and may do a little too much at an early age. Remember:The primary goals of sports activity for toddlers and young children should be playfulness, experimentation, exploration, and having fun.

Children just begin to develop the intellectual and thinking skills necessary for next-level activities and safety at around ages 5 to 6 years. Sports stars may start their career at the age of 3, but not training substantially or competing heavily at 3 years of age.

Youngsters who turn into Olympians do so as a result of many factors other than starting sport early.

Research from the US Olympic Committee shows that most Olympians say that they had support from parents, were not pressured, and stayed in their sport because of the love of the sport and because they had fun.

So, whatever your reason for starting your child in sport as a toddler, remember to encourage and not pressure and take time out to play and share fun sporting moments with your child.
Who knows, they may be stars one day because they just love the sport.
